What is HiPP Comfort formula?

HiPP Comfort Formula is specially designed for babies experiencing colic, constipation, or digestive discomfort. It contains hydrolyzed protein, which is broken down into smaller pieces for easier digestion, and has a reduced lactose content to help minimize gas and bloating.

This formula also includes Lactobacillus fermentum, a probiotic strain found in breast milk, which supports gut health and strengthens the immune system. Additionally, its special fat structure mimics breast milk, reducing calcium soap formation and promoting softer stools to ease constipation.

HiPP Comfort is a gentle, easy-to-digest formula that helps soothe sensitive tummies while providing essential nutrients for healthy growth

What is HiPP HA Formula?

HiPP HA Formula is a hypoallergenic infant formula designed for babies with cow’s milk protein sensitivity or a higher risk of developing allergies. It features hydrolyzed whey protein, meaning the milk proteins are broken down into smaller fragments, making them easier to digest and less likely to trigger allergic reactions.

This formula supports gut health and immunity with prebiotics (GOS) and probiotics (Lactobacillus fermentum), which help balance the intestinal microbiota and strengthen the immune system. HiPP HA also contains essential nutrients, including DHA, vitamins, and minerals, ensuring optimal development while being gentle on sensitive stomachs.

Which HA Should I choose?

We have created a Formula Comparison Chart below to enable you to compare the main features of each formula to assist you in deciding the formula that works for you.

The ingredients in the HiPP HA formulas are similar and no version contains starch or maltodextrin. The main variation is in the nutritional make-up of the formula such as HiPP German HA PRE containing less calories, lactose, carbohydrates, iron and protein than the HA Stage 1 Dutch or German versions.

What is HiPP Anti-Reflux formula?

HiPP Anti-Reflux (AR) Formula is specially designed for babies experiencing frequent spit-up or reflux. It contains natural locust bean gum, a thickening agent that helps reduce regurgitation and improve milk retention. The formula also includes Lactobacillus fermentum, a probiotic strain found in breast milk, which supports gut health and digestion.

HiPP AR uses skimmed milk and whey as its protein source, ensuring easy digestion while maintaining essential nutrients. With a gentle composition, this formula helps soothe sensitive tummies and promotes comfortable feeding for infants prone to reflux

What is the HiPP Company background?

HiPP International is a pioneer in organic farming and infant nutrition, recognized as the largest processor of organic-biological raw materials worldwide.

The company’s origins date back to the late 19th century, when Joseph Hipp, a baker, created a rusk-based flour to help his wife nourish their twins. His nutritious innovation gained popularity, leading to the production of infant food that remained in the German market until the 1970s.

Joseph’s son, Georg Hipp, expanded the family business into infant nutrition, launching baby food products in the 1950s. HiPP transitioned from tins to hygienically safer jars in 1959/60, rapidly expanding its product range to include juices, junior meals, and whole-grain fruit blends.

HiPP embraced organic farming early on, inspired by the Swiss pioneer Dr. Hans Müller. The company set the standard for chemical-free agriculture, cultivating fruits and vegetables on natural soils. Claus Hipp, a key figure in HiPP’s growth, traveled extensively to promote organic farming, building a vast network of over 8,000 organic farms that supply HiPP with ingredients today.

Why is A2 Milk protein good for babies with sensitive tummies?

A2 protein in infant formula is easier to digest and gentler on sensitive stomachs compared to A1 protein. Milk contains two types of beta-casein, a key protein that supports growth, A1 and A2. Research suggests that A1 protein can break down into beta-casomorphin-7 (BCM-7), which may cause gut inflammation, bloating, and discomfort in some infants.

A2 protein is found naturally in goat milk and select cow breeds, lacks BCM-7, making it closer to human breast milk in composition. This helps reduce digestive issues, colic, and gas, making A2-based formulas ideal for babies with milk sensitivities. Additionally, A2 protein supports nutrient absorption, ensuring infants receive essential vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids for healthy development.

Overall, A2 protein formulas provide a gentle, well-tolerated option for babies, promoting comfort, digestion, and immune health

Why is formula produced in EU and Australia of higher quality than US formula?

There are two main reasons for EU and Australian manufactured formula being healthier and safer for your baby.

1. Higher standards for formula ingredients

EU and Australia regularly update and constantly enforce formula ingredient regulation compliance to ensure the latest food tech standards for infant health and safety are met. The FDA has not reviewed and updated baby formula ingredient requirements since 1998.

Many common ingredients found in US formulas are banned in Australia and the EU, such as GMO’s, corn syrup, rice/glucose syrup, fructose, or table sugars.

Due to the high prevalence of heavy metal contamination of soil and water across the US, most US produced baby formula is found to have potentially harmful levels of contaminants, including heavy metals like lead and arsenic

2.      Higher and stricter qualification criteria to meet the organic certification standards

The farming standards required for organic certification are higher in the EU and Australia.

The organic standards in the EU and Australia guarantee that the formula is free of hormones, GMOs, added sugars, artificial preservatives, antibiotics and pesticides.

HiPP and Holle meet even higher standards, such as Demeter and Biodynamic standards respectively.

Table Summarizing the Differences between EU and US Baby Formula

Feature European Baby Formula US Baby Formula
Fat Source
Natural milk fats with minimal vegetable oils
All milk-based formulas generally remove milk fat and add vegetable oil
Carbohydrate Source
Lactose is the primary carbohydrate. At least 30% of the carbohydrates found in baby formula must come directly from lactose
No set minimums for carbohydrate source so many formulas contain corn syrup, glucose syrup solids, or other processed sweeteners as a primary carbohydrate source
Heavy Metals Regulation
(such as lead, arsenic, mercury, and cadmium)
The EU has strict heavy metal limits for baby formulas and food, continuously updated and monitored.
FDA action levels are higher than EU limits and testing is not mandatory.
Iron
Lower iron levels, closer to breast milk, focused on bioavailability
Generally higher iron levels without regard to absorption efficiency
